POSTER PRINT - S. Ashmole
I called the program Poster Print for want of a better name. It doesn`t
produce picture posters, but does print poster-sized text, good for anything
from notices to go on your door to Xmas/Birthday greeting posters and
banners.
The poster text is printed sideways so a fairly long message can be produced
(up to 80 characters, though this is not recommended).
The program works by scanning the text on screen and printing 1 or more
printer characters for each pixel scanned. The number of characters printed
for each pixel can be set.
Poster characters are vertically and horizontally centred on your paper, but
paper length may need to be set if the default is unsuitable. Where the
message is spread over several sheets vertical centering is ignored.
NOTE: all measurements used by the program are in standard printer characters
(columns and lines).
USAGE: F1 - Set text ...... Enter the message line by line, pressing Enter
after each line. The number of lines allowed
will be restricted by the program to fit your
page. To end text entry simply press Enter on
its own.
F2 - Print height .. Set the height of the poster characters in
chars/pixel.
F3 - Print width ... Set the width of the poster characters in
chars/pixel.
F4 - Page length ... Set the length of your paper. This affects the
automatic centering of the poster print. Default
is for A4-sized paper using a DMP where the top
few lines of the page are not usable. The
program does not restrict printing to one page,
but allows it to be spread over as many pages as
needed. With continuous (fanfold) paper this
allows very long messages to be printed (eg.
Xmas greetings). Alternatively you could print
on separate sheets and tape them together.
F5 - Page width .... Set the width of your paper. Default is for A4
paper. Again affects automatic centering.
Ctrl-c ............. Exits program.
The program assumes you are using a standard print pitch of 10 CPI. You are
free to experiment with different pitches but centering will be affected.
Use NLQ print for best effect.
Run from Workbench. Requires WB printer device.
Program originally written in AMOS.
The source code `ColourPoster.amos` is a colour version of the program.
This works well on my LC100 but I have not been able to test it with other
types of printer.
